SLA Taxonomy Members: Consider the SLA Annual Conference this June

The SLA Annual Conference in Vancouver, BC, June 7-10, 2014, is not only a great opportunity for educational sessions and networking, it’s in a great location for adding some vacation time. Vancouver is a beautiful city with lots to see and do, and it’s also a major departure point for cruises to Alaska. The SLA conference even has a discount rate on a week-long Alaska cruise departing the day after the conference ends. Check for location and vacation details on the SLA Vancouver site at

The SLA Taxonomy Division is providing some added networking opportunities for this year’s conference. These are, in addition to our standard offerings: the no-host dinner on Saturday night, and the division open house on Monday night, when we will be celebrating the division’s fifth anniversary this year. We hope to see many of you at both events.

You can create your own networking opportunities by reaching out to other division attendees. This year, division members who provide their contact information in advance of the conference, and agree to share that information, will be given a list of these division attendees. Ask a colleague to join you for a lunch or dinner in Vancouver. It’s a great way to meet people and also to have company for meals. If you are attending and didn’t already provide your contact information for this purpose in the member survey, send your contact information to

We hope to see many of you in Vancouver. For a list of our sessions and continuing education programs, see the SLA Online Planner or the division wiki.

Remember, the early bird conference registration deadline is Apr. 11!
